NEW DELHI: Pakistan's president, General Musharraf has appealed for international help, saying Pakistan cannot deal with the aftermath of the massive earthquake on its own.
At least 30,000 people are reported to have been killed and another 40,000 are injured in Pakistan, and it is certain that the toll will climb.

Speaking to the BBC, Gen Musharraf said Pakistan needed medicine, tents and blankets to help survivors, and above all help with transport.
"We can only support and reach the people in helicopters, and our helicopter resources are limited ," he said.
"This earthquake has come in very remote mountainous regions where there aren't even roads - whatever few roads there were, the main roads have been blocked and swept away, and we are in the process of reconstructing them."

A Japanese aid worker, Satoru Narahara, 36, and his son Hikaru, 2, were killed when the residential complex where they lived in Islamabad collapsed. His wife, Hiromi, 34, was injured.
Narahara had been in Pakistan on a two-year assignment for the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which was to end Oct. 19.
